Can I register myself and my organisation?

Yes, but please note that you will need to register both separately and use a different email address for each.

I’m a CIPR member, how do I register myself as an individual?

If you are employed by an agency or working in-house for a company then you need to register as an individual.

If you are working as a freelancer with your own clients then you should register as “In-House team, Agency or Freelance” as this will allow you to list your clients.

Why is it important that organisations register with UKLR?

UKLR offers organisations the opportunity to be completely transparent, improving public confidence in lobbying and demonstrating commitment to high professional standards.

By registering your organisation you have the ability to add clients (where applicable) and members of staff who may not be CIPR members but wish to declare lobbying activity. If you are a CIPR member registered with UKLR your employer entry will link to your individual entry ensuring simple but complete transparency.

What code of conduct will apply to non-CIPR members?

Individuals and organisations registered with UKLR are accountable. This can be through membership of a professional body or trade association to a recognised code of conduct. Because the register is open to anyone who carries out lobbying some registrants may not be a member of an organisation which holds them accountable to a code of conduct and in this instance they will automatically be accountable to the CIPR Code of Conduct.

The UKLR currently recognises two codes of conduct: CIPR and the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA). If you are not a member of either of these bodies then you will be accountable to the CIPR Code of Conduct.

How often should an entry be updated?

UKLR operates in real time so you are free to log in at any time and update your details.  We do ask that you keep your entry as up-to-date as possible and at least within two months of any changes to your business that should be reflected in the register.

We hope this is helpful but should you require any further information or assistance please get in touch at secretary@lobbying-register.uk.
